Let us first understand what is a website?

A website can be defined as a group of web pages which are interlinked with each other form a network that contains useful information. 

In wiki it is defined as:Web design is the skill of designing presentations of content (usually hypertext or hypermedia) that is delivered to an end-user through the World Wide Web, by way of a Web browser or other Web-enabled software like Internet television clients, micro blogging clients and RSS readers. Before we talk about web design to the people who are really new to the world of web let me share about www. www means world wide web. Anything you see over the internet is nothing but a part of the www. It’s a virtual concept of inter linking of memory space available on a computer or server using a static ip or some domain name. What you see on some sites over their website like www.xyz.com  is nothing but it is a memory space that is available either privately by these companies or own by some third part leased to these companies. They make there privately available data public by mapping it to a unique IP address or a unique domain name like www.xyz.com 

The memory space that is made available publicly in such a manner is termed as host space or web space.  To make your website that you will design in days ahead available to everyone through internet you need two basic things namely 1. Web space or host space 2. Domain name or an unique static IP address.
Now each website that you see across the web is designed and developed by some aspiring designer like you. It is also optimized so that it can have heavy traffic. During this topic I will share with you about what are the fundamentals and basics things that you need to know before you design a website. We will ponder upon few points as under

If you could the percentage of it, it is about 15% of the world population. This group of netizens is increasing rapidly and fast every day. 

-    As I said websites break all your geographical boundaries and make you have a free will of global expansion of your profession

 -         Website has proved itself to be the most economic and reliable medium for interaction and your professional promotion.

 -         If you have an optimized website then you have a huge traffic of users visiting your website. Potential business is generated out of this traffic. 

-         Your website becomes your business card. Anyone can get your contact information such as email, work phone, fax number and more at just one click even if they are traveling or do not have their business card album with them. 

-         Having a website you assure your customers for 24x7 support by means of FAQs, HelpDesk, Chat, Phone support. This is probably one of the most important need of the customer.

 -         For a small business static websites built on HTML and Flash are more than sufficient but if you think a way beyond it, a dynamic website can be used for various applications; you could build up a secure login to your customer who can access data with security and confidentiality. You can also manage your contents dynamically along with many features such as stock items, stock and inventory status, prices, important messages, news, articles, services and more.

 -         A website can help you generate new business as well as also help you to maintain your existing customers.
